Woah, I passed a milestone:
Thanks for coming by!
Amazing time of worship this morning. Here's the rug-burn on my knee:
I went in to a dark corner in the back, so as not to be a distraction, and went ape shit. Can't remember the last time I did that.
Update: It's even better the day after:
Day 3: Ow.
(This is why you visit my blog, right?)
This beautiful video from Christine Sine (who was at last year's US Soliton gathering) expresses some of my deepest values. It takes a series of buzzwords that have become popular to espouse (or malign), and humanizes them with imagery, phrases and music. Many of the words may be new to you. But taken as a whole, I can point to this video and say, "This is what I am trying to live."
My invitation to you: Come join me in this adventure.

Update: The event is CANCELED due to flight delays. Argh!
Michael Frost is coming to the Bay Area again, this time to San Jose! If you:
then you owe it to yourself to come hear Mike. Where Alan has strategic vision, Mike has practical know-how. He brings a wealth of stories from his own experiences of planting a missional church in Sydney — I hope to hear about failures as well as successes!

Tomorrow: Alan Hirsch
Saturday: "Entering the Story" with ReImagine in SF
Wednesday, Oct. 3: Mike Frost
Sunday, Oct. 7: Journey re-launches, starting with an "open space" (or unconference). I plan to host a session. (Anybody care to supply a catchy title?)
This is all quite sudden. I wonder where the road leads.
Last Sunday at The Journey, in the middle of leading worship through music, I led a body prayer which I made up to focus on time, change, the past, the present, the future:
Assume a running position.
Become aware of your body.
Feel the energy in the balls of your feet.
Feel how odd it is to stay in this position without moving.
Feel your back foot ready to push off.
Your back foot brought you to where you are now.
Shift forward. Feel the weight centering on your front foot.
Realize that soon, everything shifts and your front foot becomes the back foot.
++
The love of God
Which did not wait for us to come to him
But instead came running to us:
That same love of God is on the move
The love of God invites us to join
In the joy of the run
Pushing off from the past
Leaning into the future
We press on toward the goal

"Macintel" -- Google it. Do you see a single Apple page? No? Then stop saying it!
Stop using email as a calendaring system!
"Mac OS X" -- that's pronounced "ten", not "ex"!
People! "Ask" is not a frigging noun! (It's bad enough that I get this at work, but at church??)
Uhh. This was the message left on our phone today:
"Heyyy, hope I got your number down right, 'cause this doesn't sound like it could be you. How embarrassing would that be? Anyway, I'm gonna make this quick, because my husband will be home soon and I don't wanna get caught. So, I can definitely meet you in the hotel lobby like we discussed tonight, but make sure to leave me the time on my secret lovenest email. Umm, in case you don't remember, my profile number is _____. I have to admit, I'm really nervous, but I really want to meet you. Umm, oh and I remembered what you said about pictures so I put one up so that you know what I look like, and um, I guess I'll see you tonight! Bye, hon."
Hey, Doug Pagitt made it onto CNN! Check it out. Try not to snigger at John MacArthur.
Doug, you did great. I had to laugh when you took the anchor's question and did your usual "what are you asking" parry.
I filled my tank this morning as soon as it went "ding" to warn me I was getting low: 531 miles on 10.272 gallons. It's been a while since I've done that well.
